STILLWATER - Kathryn M. Peacock, 72, of Colonial Rd., died peacefully Friday June 23rd, with her loving husband James at her side. A 1962 graduate of Catholic Central High School, born in Albany, September 27, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Anastasia Dunigan Mahar. Kathy received her R.N. from St. Peter’s Nursing School in Albany and shortly thereafter began her nursing career at Leonard Hospital in Troy. In 1974, Kathy began working as the school nurse for the Stillwater Central School District, a job she would grow to love and in return gain the love of thousands of students over her 29 year career. A strong spoken woman, she had a soft heart for her students. She retired in 2003 after an amazing career.
Kathy was a former captain, EMT and longtime member of the Stillwater Rescue Squad. She also trained student EMT’s for Saratoga County for 30 years, volunteered for the Red Cross as a collector for the Blood Bank and also ran parenting classes with the Red Cross.
A faithful lifetime member of the All Saints on the Hudson parish, she served on the Lazarus Ministry and as a trustee for the church’s Finance Committee.
Kathy is survived by her husband of 50 years, James M. Peacock, whom she married on July 16, 1966, her two sons William and wife Laura Peacock of Clifton Park and Jay Peacock of Stillwater, grandchildren Devin, Brody, Keelyn and Kylie Peacock and a brother Michael Mahar of Shaftsbury, VT.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at All Saints on the Hudson North Church(St. Peter’s), 895 Hudson Ave, Stillwater, NY 12170 on Tuesday, June 27th at NOON followed by burial at Saratoga National Cemetery. Calling hours will also be held in the church on Monday the 26th from 4-7PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a future Nursing Scholarship to be established at Stillwater High School.
