MECHANICVILLE - Rita A. Fruci, 87, lifelong resident of Mechanicville, died Monday morning, April 3rd, at her home, after an extended illness, and is now in the loving embrace of her late husband Anthony.
Born December 21, 1929, daughter of the late Florence Gunnison Sisto, she was a graduate of Mechanicville High School. For many years she was a teller at the former Mechanicville Savings and Loan Assoc.
Rita bowled for many years in her Wednesday night bowling league.
A faithful member of the Assumption-St. Paul Church and the ladies auxiliary of the Peters-Purcell ITAM Post.
Rita was devoted to her family, was the Godmother to many nieces and nephews, and enjoyed her family’s many gatherings.
Her husband of 66 years, and caretaker these last years, Anthony C. Fruci died as a result of Motor Vehicle accident in May of 2016.
Survivors include her daughter Veronica (Geoffrey) McAlmond of Enfield, Ct., and sons Anthony (Debbie) and William Fruci all of Mechanicville, along with grandchildren: David McAlmond and Sara Winslow, Felicia (Paul) Rivenburgh, Faith (John) Montesano and great granddaughter Milania. Also Aunts Carmella Montarello and Jennie Fusco and in-laws that she considered brothers and sisters: Laura Welch, Carmella “Tookie” DeVito, Dominick (Lori) Fruci and Robert Linehan, many nieces and nephews and their families. In addition to her mother and husband, predeceased by in-laws William Welch, Anthony “Primo” DeVito, Veronica Linehan and Marie and Bob Paul.
Rita’s family thanks Dr. Veena Goel for her may house visits and their Mom’s caregivers Maia, Raema Mitchell, MaryEllen Malady, Caroline Marzello of Hospice, the Church community for their weekly visits and all who have visited and gave comfort to Rita and her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday evening at 7 PM at All Saints on the Hudson Church, 121 North Main St., Mechanicville.
Calling hours at the North Main St. Church on Wednesday from 4 - 6:45PM.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Community Hospice of Saratoga or a charity of one’s choice in memory of Rita A. Fruci.
