MECHANICVILLE - Kenneth J. Carbone, Sr., 89, of South Main Street, died after a brief illness on Sunday February 5, 2017 at Albany Medical Center, with his loving family by his side. Born in Mechanicville on March 30, 1927, he was the son of the late Biagio and Marie Vannucci Carbone.
Ken served honorably in the US Navy during WWII until being honorably discharged shortly after the wars end. He began his working days at the B&M Railroad and then at the WESVACO Paper Company before settling into his long term career at the Ford Motor Company’s Tractor Division in Latham until retiring in the early 90’s.
Ken enjoyed playing bocce with family and friends at the Italian Fraternal, darts at The Commercial and bowling in various local leagues. In spare time he could be found puttering around the house, inside and out, and was always willing to help others when they were in need. He was the rock in his family, his children’s hero, and will be missed dearly by them as well as by his loving companion and best friend, his dog Rudy.
Ken was predeceased by his wife Eleanor M. Carbone in February 1997.
Survivors include his son Keith(Tamara) Carbone of Mechanicville, son Kenneth Jr.(Joanne) Carbone of Rochester, daughter Tami(Tom) Moldenhouer of Stillwater, grandchildren Tara(Matthew) Ciullo, Brittany and Kyle(Diana) Carbone, James(Eric Rosenfield), Paul(Alyssa), Luke(Kassandra) and Kaelynn(Greg Brown) LaVigne, Jenesa(Pasty) Mpiga-Tsiba, several great grandchildren, sisters Mary Lavazzo of Mechanicville and Anna “Pat”(Matt) Tomaro of Cohoes, brothers Joseph Carbone of Mechanicville and William(Eleanor) Carbone of MA, along with several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his siblings Rose Clements, Dolores and Carl Carbone.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at NOON at All Saints on the Hudson, 121 No. Main Street., Mechanicville with burial and military honors to follow at Hudson View Cemetery. Calling hours at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville on Wednesday from 4-7 PM.
