MELROSE - George E. LeBlanc, 81, passed peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 27th at his home following a prolonged illness.
Born in Salem, Mass, Sept. 6, 1935, son of the late Joseph and Marie Bellanger LeBlanc, George graduated from Lake George High School and Alpena College.
Many years ago, George was a Deputy Sheriff for Warren County, later in life, he drove tractor trailer for Standard Block Co and Fort Edward Express for over 30 years.
George served his community as a volunteer fireman, as a captain of the North Queensbury Fire Dept. for many years as well as volunteering with the Hemstreet Park Fire Dept. for several years.
In his spare time, George enjoyed fishing and spending time with his beloved cat, Itch, and his treasured grandchildren: Shelby M. Jenkins, Olivia J. Jenkins, Robert G. Griffin, Erica Griffin and Samantha A. Whalen.
George was sadly predeceased in 2014 by his loving wife on many years Carol J. (Martell) LeBlanc as well as a brother Joseph (Jewel) LeBlanc.
Survivors in addition to the above grandkids include his children: Judy M. (Edward) Jenkins, Jackelyn M. Griffin-Loomis (Lester), Jo Griffin, George (Janis) LeBlanc, Michael R. (Karen) LeBlanc, Cynthia LeBlanc-VanDewerker (Mike), Saralee LeBlanc-Bublak and a brother Richard (Martha) LeBlanc, as well as grand, great and great great grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday at 3 PM at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville. Calling hours will precede from 1-3 PM.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Heart Assoc., in memory of George E. LeBlanc.
