MECHANICVILLE - Mrs. Jennie DeVito Cervine, 92, of So. Second Ave., died Thursday July 14th at Schuyler Ridge, Clifton Park, following an extended illness.
A native and lifelong resident of Mechanicville, born June 11, 1924, daughter of the late Joseph and Grace DeVito.
Jennie was a cashier at the former A & P Market in Mechanicville for years, serving shoppers with her quick wit and smile. She had also worked at former Korell Dress Co.
Jennie had enjoyed bowling for years, playing bocce ball, playing cards with her family and friends of their card club, loved conversing with all those she met along the way, and above all spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband of almost 70 years Salvadore, her son Theodore (Beverly) of Waterford, daughter Gloria (Bruce) Steves of Mechanicville, grandchildren Erica (Nate) Meaker of Easton, Salvadore Cervine of Albany, Bruce Steves, Esq of Mechanicville and Justin (Becky) Malinowski of Waterford, 5 great grandchildren, her sister Frances (Lou) Benamati and sister-in-law Carmella “Tookie” DeVito of Mechanicville along with many nieces/nephews and families.
Jennie was predeceased by her sisters Millie Tironi, Vera Notro and Mary Robens and her brother Anthony “Primo” DeVito.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at Noon at All Saints on the Hudson Church, 121 North Main St, Mechanicville, with burial in St. Paul’s Cemetery.
Calling hours at the North Main Street Church on Wednesday from 10 AM till Noon.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to a charity of one’s choice in loving memory of Jennie Cervine.
