Obituary for Harold W. Osborn

Harold W.  Osborn
HALFMOON - Harold W. Osborn, 92, of Hayner Heights, died Saturday morning May 5, 2018 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Mechanicville May 4, 1926 son of the late Raymond F. and Fannie M. Gothey Osborn, educated in the Mechanicville school system; he was an US Army veteran serving his country during WWII. He was employed at the West Vaco Paper Mill, Mechanicville for 21 years and retired from St. Regis Manufacturing. In September 1950, he married the love of his life Marie E. (Knapp) Osborn who predeceased him in December of 2009; he was also predeceased by two brothers; Raymond L. and Richard L. Osborn, four sisters; Ruth H. Starks, Thelma J. Niland, Rita J. Coons and Sylvia M. Lake. He is survived by his children, Dianne M. and Michael J. Smith of Malta, his caregivers, Thomas R. and Virginia A. Osborn of Melrose, His sisters Lorraine M. Guile of Greenwich and Nancy A. (John) Retell of Stillwater; His Sister-in-law Janet G. Osborn of Schaghticoke, his Brother-in-Law, William H. Lake of Florida; His Grandchildren; Andrew O. (Meredith) Smith, Amanda M. (Michael) Ashford, Tyler B. (Danielle) Osborn and Chelsea L. Osborn and fiancé Joshua Velasquez; great granddaughter, Giuliana K. Smith; also, survived by several nieces and nephews. A Special thank you to his health care aids, Shoba, Agnes and Anita for their attentive care and support.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 9 at 10 a.m. at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville with military honors and burial to follow at Hudson View Cemetery, Mechanicville. Calling hours at the Funeral Home will be Tuesday, May 8, from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to The Community Hospice, 179 Lawrence Street, Saratoga Springs, N.Y. 12866 in loving memory of Harold W. Osborn.
