MECHANICVILLE - Amalia “Molly” DeCrescenzo Bango ended her earthly journey on Tuesday, St. Anthony’s Devotion Day, April 10, 2018 at 4:37pm. She said her goodbye with a final look of love to her daughter Amor, son Anthony, and her son Joseph’s wife Kathy.
Molly was born to Antonio and Theresa Malone De Crescenzo on July 25, 1915. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Joseph F. Bango, her son, Joseph M. Bango and her brothers, Frank, Alec, Elpidio “Archie,” Joseph and Anthony “Sarge” DeCrescenzo as well as her sisters, Philomena (Daviero), “Fanny,” Tomasina, “Mazie,” Rosina (Ballone), “Rosie.”
Molly is survived by her son, Anthony (Sue) and her daughter, Amor, her daughter-in-law, Kathy, grandchildren, Allissa, Emily, Anna, Caitlin, Zachary and Haleigh Bango, many nieces, nephews spanning four generations and a multitude of friends.
For Molly, family and faith were the focus of her life, and the practice of her faith broadened her family through the love and generosity she extended to everyone she knew. She made everyone she met feel special.
The day Molly was born was Dollar Day in Mechanicville which meant that her parents were charged $1.00 for the delivery. For a dollar we got a priceless and incredibly generous, loving and compassionate person. Her generosity was boundless. She gave her love and attention to so many. She loved life and all it presented. She was devoted to her family, immediate family, her large extended family and her countless friends.
Molly had an active life which included playing in a bocce league, enrolling at CURVES, and delivering Meals on Wheels for 17 years. She said her secret for a long life was to stay active.
Molly’s faith was unshakeable. Her daily prayers and rosary were a source of strength. She prayed daily for the sick, the dying, the living and the pregnant women she knew (she was famous around town for predicting the child’s gender) and those looking for a spouse! Her unfailing devotion to the Blessed Mother Mary, St. Joseph, and St. Anthony was a powerful inspiration.
Her work for her parish included embroidering baptismal bibs, chaperoning the altar boys on yearly trips, being an active member of the Rosary Altar Society, cooking special meals for the Franciscan Sisters of the Atonement. When a priest visited, he was fed well. Molly loved teaching religious instruction and did so for many years.
Molly was first employed by the Stillwater Knitting Mill in 1937. From there she went to the Korell Dress Company where she perfected her skill as a seamstress. She also worked at the Troy Shirt Factory and during WWII contributed to the war effort working at General Electric working on a punch press making parts for submarines. She married JB in June of 1941. The war interrupted their married life. JB returned in 1946 and started their family.
Until we meet again, goodbye Mom, Aunt, friend. Watch over us.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday April, 14th at 10AM at All Saints on the Hudson(St. Paul’s) Church, 121 N Main St, Mechanicville, NY 12118 with burial to follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery. Calling hours will also be held AT THE CHURCH on Friday the 13th from 4-7PM.
