Obituary for Carmelina Scelsi (Acerra)

STILLWATER - Carmelina Scelsi, 96, of Hudson Ave, passed away peacefully on Christmas Eve at Schuyler Ridge Residential Healthcare, following a brief illness.
She was born on May 24, 1921, daughter of the late Dominick and Michelina Acerra. Carmelina was a homemaker for most of her life but had worked as a sales clerk for Levine Department Store in Mechanicville for a short time as a young woman. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting and crocheting as well as cooking and baking for her friends and family. She was a devoted member of her neighboring church, the Highway Tabernacle Assembly of God.
Carmelina was predeceased by her husband of almost 61 years, Rocci A. Scelsi in 2002 as well as sisters Elsie Beatty, Ida Guyer, Christine Acerra, and a brother Michael Acerra.
Survivors include her son, Michael (Sharon) Scelsi of Stillwater, her daughter Paula (Richard) Antrim, of Midland, TX, four grandchildren, Marc and Darcy Scelsi, Heather and Glenn Antrim, a sister Mary Dorski of Greenwich and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours on Friday from 11AM - 1PM at the Highway Tabernacle Assembly of God Church, 235 Hudson Avenue, Mechanicville, NY 12118. A church service will follow starting at 1PM with burial to follow at the Saratoga National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or Wounded Warrior, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KN 66675-8517 in loving memory of Carmelina Scelsi.
