COHOES - Frank E. Smith, Sr., 80, of Breslin Ave., died Wednesday evening, Nov 29th at home, after a courageous fight with his health, in the loving company of his family.
Born in Albany, April 21, 1937, son of the late Charles and Evelyn Quackenbush Smith, Frank was affectionately know to family and friends as “Bunk”.
In law enforcement most of his life, he had been with the Albany County Sheriffs Dept. for 7 years, worked security for University Heights Assoc of Albany, and also spent 22 years with the Glenmont Job Corps.
For over 20 years he was very involved with softball, serving as Capital District Commissioner of the Amateur Softball Assoc., the Junior Olympics AAS girls softball program.
He loved his family, his children and grandchildren, and was a true influence to all.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Phyllis DeMarco Smith, children: Wendy (Donna) Smith, Robin “Bobbie” (Edward) Francesconi, Francis (Kim) Smith, Jr., William (Melissa) Smith and AnnLynn (Michael) Schrom, Kimberly Chapleau-Cristaldi and Anthony Smith. Grandchildren: Stacey “Sarah”, Jennifer, Brianna, MacKenzie “Mac”, Matthew, Logan, Nicholas, Laurie and David. Along with great grandchildren: Izabella, Jaxson and Eastyn. Also his brother Ronald Smith of Florida and sister Starr D’Ambro DeRusso of Stillwater and his beloved canine companion Lhasa Apso “Bonita”.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday December 2nd at 10 AM at the Marra Funeral Home, 246 Remsen St., Cohoes, with burial in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Mechanicville.
Calling hours will be at Marra Funeral Home on Friday December 1st from 5 to 8 PM.
