MECHANICVILLE - James Butler, 91, of Graves Road, died Sunday, October 8th, at Haynes House of Hope care facility in Granville, with his loving family at his side. Born in Mechanicville, April 28, 1926, he was the son of Leonard and Agnes Jones Butler.
Shortly after high school, Jim joined the US Navy, serving honorably during WWII until being discharged. He worked for many years at the D & H Railroad in Mechanicville as a freight car inspector until retiring in 1984. He enjoyed working around the house and working on cars.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife, Freda Bartlett Butler in 2011 and his siblings Marie Bechtel, Betty Carr and David Butler.
Survivors include his sons Karl(Kathleen) of Duanesburg and Lawrence(Deborah) of Mechanicville, daughter Susan(James) Maloney of Mechanicville, grandchildren Karla(Ken) Yoshimora, Kurt(Kim) Butler, Chrystal(Kyle) Chadwick, Chad Butler(Justin Pullen), Erin and Megan Maloney, great grandchildren Angeleena, Brayden, Joshua and Jayden, siblings Thelma Urbaetis, Irma Cornell, Preston Butler, Lynne(Patrick) DeMarco and many nieces and nephews.
Calling Hours will be held on Wednesday from 5-7PM at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 S Main St, Mechanicville, NY 12118. Funeral Service on Thursday at 1PM at the funeral home, with burial to follow in Hudson View Cemetery.
