MECHANICVILLE - Mariann P. Sullivan, 72, of South Third Ave., died peacefully Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Saratoga Hospital with her loving family at her side. Born in New Brunswick, NJ, daughter of the late Edward and Mary Nemis Ogorzalek, Mariann was a graduate of Edison High School and later received her B.A. in Sociology from The College of Our Lady of the Elms in Massachusetts.
A vibrant woman who always had a smile on her face, Mariann worked at several area locations, casting a positive feeling on all those she encountered. Whether working with people or flowers, her optimistic attitude and sense of style showed through on any task at hand. She worked at the snack shack at The Edison Club in Rexford for almost 15 years, as a horticulturist for the Saratoga National Golf Club, at Mechanicville Golf Club where she assisted with all the day to day operations of the course, waitressing for breakfast at the Saratoga Race Track and as a saleswoman for Macy’s Department Store.
In her spare time, Mariann loved tending to her garden and the beautiful flowers in it, cookbooks (especially the ones with pictures), birdhouses and more than anything else, the time she spent with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of almost 49 years, Thomas P. Sullivan, whom she married on September 14, 1968, her son Edward(Julie) Sullivan of Orlando, FL, daughter Maura(John) Henyecz of New Milford, NJ and her beloved grandchildren Thomas and Andrew Sullivan and Alyssa and Emma Henyecz.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 16th from 4-7PM at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 S Main Street, Mechanicville, NY 12118. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Marianns memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1 Penny Lane, Latham, NY 12110.
