Obituary for Nicholas A. Hunter

Nicholas A. Hunter
MECHANICVILLE- Nicholas A. Hunter, 41, was called home by the Lord, Thursday, July 21st from St. Peter’s Hospice Inn, Albany, after a 10 year struggle with colon and later liver cancer. Nick never lost faith, hope or the will to live, fought every battle he faced, went through the highs and lows of good and poor health, and never gave up. On Thursday morning, the Lord said “enough” and rewarded Nick with eternal life.
Born in Troy, January 21, 1975, son of Gary and Joanne Robyck Hunter, Nick was a 1994 graduate of Mechanicville High School and later received an associate’s degree from HVCC.
Nick last worked as a delivery person for DPX of Waterford, and previously a warehouseman for DeCrescente Dist. Co. of Mechanicville for years.
A ferocious sports fan, Nick was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan, followed the NY Yankees and the Boston Celtics, enjoyed watching hockey and was a Syracuse U. Orange fan.
A member of the Italian Fraternal Society and baseball’s umpiring associations; Nick loved officiating youth basketball and baseball games, and lending his knowledge of the sport to young ones.
Survivors in addition to his loving and proud parents, Gary and Joanne include big brother Sean and wife Lisa Hunter and their kids Mia and Jakob of Mechanicville, along with his Robyck family relatives, many friends and neighbors.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 1 PM at All Saints on the Hudson Church, 121 North Main St., and Mechanicville. Burial in Hudson View Cemetery.
Calling hours at the North Main St. church on Sunday from 3-6 PM.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to NYOH Community Cancer Foundation, Community Hospice of Saratoga or Hospice Inn of St. Peter’s Hospital.
